It was a Wednesday. I had gotten enough done in my commercial work to satisfy client requests for the day. It was slightly overcast and it had recently rained, so impulsively I loaded up the truck and headed out to Falls Creek to redeem myself and my flawed waterfall experiment.
I’m working on a digital guide and cheat sheet that I’ll be posting to my site soon. However, I should have probably read my own checklist prior to packing for this special outing! I accidentally left my ND filter at home. (Not the thing do do if you’re planning on shooting long exposure waterfalls!)
As of April, 2019 I realized I had officially been doing commercial photography for over 15 years. Perhaps it was because I recently turned 40, or because I had a moment of reflection, but the tough pill to swallow in my assessment of what I’ve achieved is that in those 15 years was that I had created very little “art.” Growing up as an artist, I never thought I could go through a drought of not creating anything like this.
Late in April, I looked out the window at around 6:00am and saw high clouds breaking. I knew this could be a productive, colorful sunrise, so I grabbed my coffee and camera gear and headed out.
